While AI use in business focuses strictly on saving time and money, why not explore avenues where efficiency is not the main goal but a side effect of something more profound and value-driven?

This is one of the questions posed by Sisufy, a digital parenting AI-guide, striving to foster connections between parents and children, and pull both away from the screens.

Pia and Jim Solatie, the founders of Sisufy, told us about their motivations, hopes regarding artificial intelligence’s application for good purposes, and ethical questions they face when building a digital parenting tool.

Solving big problems with small solutions

While the parents are occupied with other errands and want to keep their little ones busy, what naturally comes in handy are the mobile devices. Sisufy offers an alternative to such, still providing parents with the space they need, but with the use of healthier methods.

On one hand, it responds to the parents’ pain points, such as constant lack of time and ideas, or feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and creatively barren. It helps by suggesting activities that safely engage and entertain their kids without the parent’s undivided focus. On the other, it offers a guide to quality time spent together.

“We made something that would support parents in enjoying parenting. They shouldn’t feel like entertaining machines for their kids. For the time spent together to be of quality, both sides need to find it valuable. As parents ourselves, we want others to feel confident, not by being perfect but by becoming resourceful.”

Screen abuse is a major, global problem, but Pia and Jim believe that solving it does not demand a big-bang type of event.

“When you tackle a huge global problem, people often expect a huge solution as well. We, however, want to show that the tiny tricks are often those that make a real difference. When you see the difference through little things coming in pairs, the change does not feel so overwhelming. Through Sisufy, we make others notice the transformative power in everyday small actions.”

Currently, Sisufy offers two core features:

  • Sisufy Hotline – WhatsApp messages sent to your inbox every second day, short pings that remind you of your goals and offer ideas, designed to build creativity, emotional safety, and connection.

  • Sisufy AI Coach, a web parenting guide chat, offering personalized suggestions and responses, based on your child’s age, interests, and needs. You can reach it anytime, with any question, in any language. It offers secure assistance, without allowing your data to flow into OpenAI.

What does it mean to become sisufied? The Finnish spirit behind Sisufy.me

Finland’s reputation as the happiest country in the world stands on many pillars, including social security, healthcare, and education. Among the exportable practices, Pia and Jim found also the Finnish parenting style.

“Having worked with children and parents in Asia for many years, we have come to understand the value of and the interest in the Finnish parenting style. When working abroad, one can have a more objective outlook on the practices one takes for granted.”

This inspired the Sisufy founders to base their idea on the unique Finnish concept of sisu. Sisu is a single word that carries dozens of meanings. But most importantly, it embodies the inner strength, resilience, and resourcefulness with which the platform wants to support today’s parents.

The pedagogical principles behind the platform include what Finland is truly proud of: creativity, equity over competition, less pressure and more balance, play-based learning, trust in caretakers, holistic well-being, collaboration over competition, and individualized support.

Paradox of solving digital problems with digital tools

How could a tech-driven AI tool help mitigate digital overuse? This is the question that Sisufy faces daily.

“Responsible screen time is not only about how much time you spend on a device, but also about what you spend that time on.”

Pia and Jim explain simply – “You use the screen for 5 minutes to get the guidance that will allow you to get off it for the next 2 hours.” Seems like a fair deal.

There are, however, other ethical issues that cause more consideration and made the founders think through ‘how far they want to go’.

Assistance and collaborative development, not therapy

Sisufy’s team knows and communicates clearly: their tool may act as an assistant, but never as a replacement of a doctor or a therapist. It enriches the parenting experience and methodologies but does not offer a formula for becoming an impeccable parent.

“We believe that parents should always understand that this is AI, not a human, on the other side. That it gives ideas and inspirations but does not heal any wounds. You, as a parent, are the one who takes a decision whether to do something with your child or not, whether to act upon the advice given by the AI tool or not.”

Data privacy is the most important ethical area that Sisufy strives to protect and prioritize.

“We ask only what we need to know for the AI coach to be effective, i.e. children’s interest and age. We prefer to use parent feedback in training Sisufy rather than their kids’ sensitive data.”

Sisufy team is strongly development-oriented. In the future, they want to polish the algorithm to introduce more personalized guidance, e.g. for parents of children with special needs. Moreover, they plan to add features alongside the AI coach, such as a database of parenting courses or mathematical forecasting of a child’s developmental paths.

Sisufy for Workplace

Sisufy is not only a manifestation of AI use for social good. It also offers a range of opportunities for enterprises that are willing to enrich their employees’ benefits or build company’s social responsibility framework. That is why ExpertHub finds it particularly interesting.

“In the large companies, young people have a huge workload, and if on top of that they have small children, the situation becomes especially difficult. Of course, the problem is at the core of the system, but we could at least mitigate its negative outcomes”.

With Sisufy’s readiness to integrate its offer into your business, the otherwise predictable set of benefits for employees can be boosted.

Sisufy proves that AI solutions don’t need to be massive to drive real change. Positioned at the intersection of parenting support and workplace well-being, it highlights a new category of business innovation: small, human-centered tools that solve big challenges sustainably.
